But at my local Costco, these employees give my cart a cursory glance, at best. The Cheat Sheet points out that former Costco employees say the receipt-checkers are actually there to spot cashier errors, not shoplifting.
This Quora answer from a former staffer explains it in more detail, stating that in their 12 years of working there, the receipt-checkers spotted theft zero timesbut caught cashier errors several times per day.
Here’s the Real Reason Costco Checks Your Receipts Before You Leave
A Reddit thread on the same subject echoes the fact that theft at these big-box stores rarely happens at the exit. Who did it, what time, etc This is not to benefit anyone but the member to improve the experience overall. That person also makes the very valid point that if you were trying to steal a TV or laptop or even a case of ramen, how would you wheel it past the cashier in the first place?

Search this thread. Costco return -lost receipt Want to return something bought a few weeks back from Costco but I lost receipt, Is there any way I can return this? It is an appliance Thanks. They have your purchase history in their system from what I understand. For an appliance, I would ask before you go lugging something so cumbersome back to Costco.
I've done it before with smaller items and they told me they see it on their system. P10 2. I will call them. I actually tried and no one picked up the phone. It is not opened yet, hope I will get luck to extend this question: let's say I bought an appliance and lost receipt, could I go to Costco store and ask them to give me a receipt copy for future return or warranty purpose?

It is part of the benefits of membership - it is all tracked. They also automatically notify you of recalls so you don't have to ever register stuff with manufacturers if you care about that.
I don't know what you mean by "appliance" - if it is truely like a fridge or a stove, I would call the store before returning, they may come and fix it for free or may help you return it. If you mean something small like a toaster oven or microwave, just bring it in, it wont be a problem.
To be nobody but yourself - in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else - means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting. I rarely use a receipt when returning items to costco, makes the return take just a bit longer. You won't have any issues as long as the item you're trying to return was purchased on the same membership you're doing the return on.
It is an appliance. Proud RFD member since January 31, Feel free to add 3, to my post count. No need for a receipt because they will have your record. For wars they come and go, but my soldiers stay eternal. Maybe it depends on cashier too. I've had the situation and the lady at the cash said without receipt theres no way I can return the product.
Maybe I should have asked for the manager cus she just wanted to get rid of me or something. Anyways I will know for the next time. What does 'could of' even mean?
Congrats to the Winners! Is the premise that everyone is a shoplifter until proven otherwise? Not exactly. Someone with three giant bundles of toilet paper in their cart, for example, might have been charged for four. Of course, if someone did try to wheel out several big-screen televisions without a receipt, the exit door employee would likely make an issue of it. In fact, hardly any criminals are caught at the door—which isn't to say the store is immune to theft.
Earlier this year, thieves at a Seattle Costco were busted with armloads of laptops after they barged out of the back entrance. Prices and availability are accurate as of the time of publication. The star of dozens of animated shorts and specials, hundreds of comics, and one big-screen feature which spawned a couple of straight-to-video follow-upsCasper the Friendly Ghost has enjoyed a great deal of spooky success since he debuted in An affable spirit, the seemingly pre-adolescent blob of ectoplasm only wants to make friends.
Unfortunately, people are consistently wary of his ethereal qualities. In the earliest shorts, he preferred to hang out by himself near a tombstone. Does the tombstone belong to him? They never got the chance. When they returned, Fleischer Studios had been purchased by Paramount, renamed Famous Studios, and wanted complete control over the intellectual property of work created by employees.
If so, it would support the idea he once occupied the land of the living. As Casper moved into another medium, however, a case began to be made for his existence as something other than human. InSt. John Publishing produced five Casper comics. InHarvey Comics took over the license. None of them were named untilwhen the uncles were dubbed Fatso, Fusso, and Lazo. When the Casper feature film starring Christina Ricci was released inproducers apparently thought moviegoers would be confused by a lack of explanation, and so the Casper of that film was portrayed as a boy named Casper McFadden.
He was said to have died of pneumonia at the age of 12 after staying out in cold weather for too long playing with a sled he had just received as a gift. There is one alternative, and slightly darker, theory that was purportedly first floated by The Simpsons.
The two bear a resemblance. So what is Casper—former boy or forever ghost? Given his comfort hanging around a tombstone and his pleasant nature preventing him from besmirching the grave of another, it seems likely he was once human.
To date, only the feature has attempted to detail what led him to the afterlife. Considering Casper's appeal as a children's property, that's probably for the best. Viewers of the third season of The Crown on Netflix will likely have their curiosity piqued by Anthony Blunt, the art historian who is revealed to be a spy for the Russians during his 19 years of service to the Queen at Buckingham Palace.
Instead of getting the boot once he was discovered, however, Blunt went on to remain under Her Majesty's employ for eight more years—until his official retirement.
While treason never looks good on a resume, the royal class had good reason to keep him on. Blunt, who was born and raised in England, visited the Soviet Union in and was indoctrinated as a spy after being convinced of the benefits of Communism in fighting fascism. Unfortunately somewhere in the Costco hustle I may have thrown out the receipt. I believe that price adjustment policy is 2 weeks with receipt, but I know that they keep a record of your purchases in their system. Do you think it would be possible to price match based on purchase history? I can possibly dig around in my trash for the receipt but I would rather not Another option would be to return and rebuy, but it seems a bit wasteful as I believe they just return the item to the supplier instead of restocking.
Hi there, They need the receipt Last time I forgot the receipt at home, so I ask, but they say I need the receipt for any price adjustments Ju Leon Proud RFD member since January 31, Feel free to add 3, to my post count. You need a receipt for a price match. Also if you don't have a receipt some locations will only give you the lowest selling price for some reason even though they can clearly see your purchase. Step 2: Present that receipt and ask for a price match.
Go to the customer service counter and ask, they should be able to look up the purchase and I would assume give you a credit rather than deal with your return. I have had no problem returning or getting an adjustment without a receipt. I said I would then return the tv and they immediately did the adjustment. If no receipt just goto customer service, they will pull up your membership purchases and adjust.
Done it numerous times, just takes extra few minutes longer.
