Buttons, touchpoints and even touchscreen fonts are very similar. So should you get a Canyon? For the most part, you can save some money by getting the Colorado. Or you might want to check out the refined Honda Ridgeline or new Ford Ranger. Overall, though, the Canyon will surely satisfy, especially if you are looking for an upscale midsize truck.
The GMC Canyon is a midsize pickup offered in two- and four-seat extended-cab and five-seat crew-cab body styles. The SL is offered only with the extended cab.
It lacks rear seats, and it comes standard with a 2. The next step up is the base Canyon trim, which is available in both extended-cab and crew-cab body styles and adds a six-speed automatic transmission optional or standard, depending on the configuration and fold-up rear jump seats extended-cab models only.
Significantly, the base Canyon can be ordered with some option packages that aren't available on the SL. Notable features to look out for include remote keyless entry, an EZ-Lift and Lower tailgate, cruise control and a trailering package.
Instead of picking option packages for the base Canyon, you could just upgrade to the SLE. It gets you most of the above as standard, plus inch wheels, power side mirrors, upgraded interior trim materials, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, an 8-inch touchscreen, satellite radio, OnStar connectivity with 4G LTE and a Wi-Fi hotspota high-resolution rearview camera, and three extra USB ports.
Much like the base Canyon, the SLE gets most of its options in packages. The optional SLE Convenience package includes automatic climate control, remote start and a sliding rear window. Really wanted to like the Toyota but the Tundra was too big and a gas hog and at 6'1" I didn't really fit in the Tacoma kept hitting my head or knees getting in and out. Also the lack of feature content in the Taco for so much more money was a factor, lack of Apple carplay, power front seats, heated seats unless you drop some serious coinheated steering wheel love it!
Would have like adaptive cruise contol and collision braking but at least I have forward collision warning and lane keeping warning as well as a really good rear view camera and backup assist. Truck drives nicely and is nice and quiet on the highway. Sold my for a Canyon and very pleased with the improvements. The 8 speed AT shifts much smoother than my 6 speed in the The ride is also quieter in the The only suggestion I would give is to equip the All Terrain model with more active safety features.
I have had a horrible time with this truck. I got a GMC Canyon extended cab 4x4 V6 that checked off all the right boxes on paper and looked and drove great during the test ride. Fast forward just three months later and I have transmission issues, grinding vibration sounds from the engine, sounds of liquid sloshing around behind the dash, and a broken AC since mid-August.

None of those issues are resolved and we are in October. I brought it in back in August and called to pick it up the same day so they can get the parts. I suffered through August and September in the heat with health issues until they took the truck in. The dealer has no ETA and the corporate office does not ever seem to return calls or call back when they promise to call back. This is the worst ownership experience I ever had. If I knew this going in, I would have gave up the features I got with the Canyon for the supposedly more reliable Toyota Tacoma.
At least I would not be making payments on a broken vehicle. I had very bad luck with a dealership in the NYC area, which I thought would have been good because it was close to my job. They only had two mechanics and their dealership served an entire NYC borough. To make matters worse, my issue happened during the GM strike.
Even worse, GM corporate was absolutely uncaring when I called them, they did absolutely nothing for me, except throw me to person to person until I got a head supervisor and by that time close to two months later in October she said 'it's fixed and we owe you nothing.

That is why we rated our experience a 3. However, we did purchase a Equinox LS that they had and that met our requirements. So far, we are satisfied with our purchase. Greatest car buying experience plan on going back soon.
I received an automatic email response days they would contact me and they never did. I had to call them a few times to get a response. Very attentive. Decided not to drive to see this vehicle, but had great communication! Sales staff was great ended up buying a different vehicle just because of the great deals. They told us they had what we were looking for one hour before we arrived, said it was on the lot! Well, it wasn't. They promised to get one just like it and we would get the best deal we've ever seen.

Unlike every other truck in this class, GMC markets its mid-sizer as a premium pickup, even though its top-of-the-line Denali model fails to meet that expectation. Still, the Canyon can be covered in chrome and fitted with fancy features, such as heated and cooled seats. It's also available with a trio of engines that include a strong V-6 and a torque-rich diesel four-cylinder. As with the Colorado, the Canyon offers a surprisingly refined ride and athletic handling for truck that's not based on a crossover.

This allows it to best imitate full-size pickups—such as the GMC Sierra —by way of its tremendous towing and hauling capabilities. The latter isn't as rugged as the jacked-up, wide-bodied Chevy Colorado ZR2but it's unquestionably the most off-road-ready Canyon. Essentially replacing the previous All Terrain trim level, the AT4 rolls on inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires that are articulated via an exclusive suspension setup.
It also has unique exterior and interior styling, a skid plate for underbody protection, and an electronic limited-slip rear differential. The deluxe Denali trim level receives inch wheels, additional chrome body trim, and a more distinct grille.
Likewise, it now comes standard with a heated steering wheel, heated and cooled front seats, and nicer interior materials. While the new Canyon AT4 is an appealing off-roader that's cheaper than the Colorado ZR2, it's still not quite as capable or as desirable. Instead, we'd recommend the all-wheel-drive Elevation model, which comes standard with the with the available V-6 powertrain. We'd also want the crew-cab body style, because the extended cab's tiny back seat basically makes it a two-seater.
It comes standard with an 8. It also has automatic climate control, a power-adjustable driver's seat, a dampened tailgate, and remote start.
We'd add the High Elevation package that includes a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, and leather upholstery. The Driver Alert package also adds useful assistance features, such as lane-departure warning and rear parking sensors.
Of the Canyon's trio of engines, we'd steer you away from base 2. Higher models feature a standard hp 3. Not only does the V-6 have cylinder deactivation in an attempt to preserve fuel, it's also one of the quickest mid-size pickups we've tested.
The diesel four-cylinder sacrifices speed in favor of fuel efficiency and towing proficiency.

Indeed, the Canyon's diesel engine is surprisingly polished ; however, it'll cost buyers a chunk of change. The Canyon's ride quality doesn't transcend its class, but it manages to successfully strike a balance between soft and firm damping. On bumpy and unpaved roads, it's very capable and will soak up most imperfections while muting harshness. The AT4 model should elevate the pickup's off-road capability even more with its upgraded suspension.
At highway speeds, the Canyon is stable and relaxed. Around town, its smaller dimensions and agility require less driver attention in traffic and in tight confines. A firm brake pedal provided responsive feedback in the Canyon we tested. The base Canyon with the four-cylinder can tow pounds and has a payload capacity of pounds; with the diesel, it can tow up to pounds and has a payload capacity of pounds.
The EPA estimates the Canyon with the gas-powered four-cylinder will earn up to 19 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. Opting for the all-wheel-drive version will only lower its highway rating by 1 mpg. The V-6 engine paired with rear-wheel drive is expected to get 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway; AWD drops both those figures by 1 mpg each.
On our mile fuel-economy route that tests real-world results on the highway, the diesel AWD earned 28 mpg and the V-6 AWD version earned 22 mpg.As a pickup truck, the Canyon drives very nicely, with the knobby off-road tires giving it a bit more of a youthful vibe.

The small and mid-sized truck segment is heating up, and right in the middle of that battle is the GMC Canyon All-Terrain; an off-road variant of the small truck launched back in to great fanfare. While not as capable off-road as a Jeep Wrangler reviewed here or the true off-roading sibling found in the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 reviewed herethe All-Terrain is built to get a little bit messier than the other Canyon trim levels. The All-Terrain package consists of unique exterior styling, spray-on bedliner, knobby all-terrain tires, rubber floor liners, three-inch off-road step bars, a skid plate for the transfer case, and off-road tuned suspension.
The interior styling is very utilitarian, in line with the rest of the GMC truck styling, which can make it feel a bit cramped at times since the cab is significantly smaller than its larger GMC Sierra reviewed here relative. While the Sierra has a cavernous interior that can comfortably fit five full size adults, the cab size and feel of the Canyon is very much like that of the compact Chevrolet Cruze.
On the V8-powered full size trucks, the performance exhaust system makes a glorious sound, but the GM 3. The cold air intake is not a bad addition, but it looks like something they asked the interns to design I would know, I used to be one and not something that went through the typical research and development an OEM part would undergo.
As with most pickup trucks, the Canyon is available with multiple cab and bed size combinations.
Cab options are Extended Cab really just front seats with some additional storage room and the four-door Crew Cab tested here. The truck bed comes in five and six-foot lengths, with the former being the better choice for Crew Cab trucks to keep vehicle length parking lot friendly.
Base mode work truck versions of the Canyon come with a 2. Noteworthy is a turbocharged 2. This Canyon was equipped with the smooth revving 3. With a manual transmission only available on the most basic models, automatic transmissions are the norm here as with most other vehicles on the market these days.
Diesel trucks get a six-speed auto, while the V6 here is mated to a wonderful eight-speed gearbox that keeps the engine revs down under mild acceleration and is very nice to drive; a welcome improvement over the six-speed of previous model years. Definitely not bad for a truck that can haul a five or six-foot bed worth of junk and tow up to kg 7, pounds behind it. As a pickup truck, the Canyon drives very nicely, with the knobby off-road tires giving it a bit more of a youthful vibe, and the cabin is sound insulated against road noise except for the awful exhaust system reminding you there is no V8 LS-family engine under that hood.
Acceleration is swift thanks to the V6, and ride comfort is decent for a body-on-frame vehicle, especially one geared for driving through some mud.
The ever-popular truck segment has plenty of competition for the Canyon. As a daily driver that is occasionally used as a truck, however, there are better options out there. In the first fixture of the Super-Playoffs of the Pro Kabaddi League Season 5, it will be an eliminator match between the Puneri Paltan and UP Yoddha to progress onto the next stage and it will be held at the Dome, NSCI in Mumbai.
The two teams finished second and third in Zone A and Zone B to seal their spot in the knockouts. Puneri Paltan is coming into this match on the back of a one-point loss against the Gujarat Fortunegiants from Friday evening while UP Yoddha slumped to a big 64-24 defeat against the Bengaluru Bulls in their last fixture, but the team had fielded a second string side in that match having qualified for the playoffs.
The two teams have clashed against each other just once earlier in the league and the match turned out to be an edge-of-the-seat thriller with Puneri Paltan coming out on top by a slender margin of just one point. When it comes to the attack, the UP Yoddha have an upper hand over Puneri Paltan given their duo of frontline raiders, Nitin Tomar and Rishank Devadiga who have picked up over 320 points between themselves. Moreover, they have a cushion in the presence of Surender Singh, who plays as the third raider and is in prime form with a couple of consecutive Super-10 outings.
Their defence is primarily manned by Jeeva Kumar in the cover position with the young Sagar Krishna and Nitesh Kumar in either corner, both of whom have given some stellar performances over the course of the season.
